New Kokoro-light repository. Repo maintainers, please review.
This discuss is an offshoot of https://huggingface.co/hexgrad/Kokoro-82M/discussions/67
I've create a new repository that is a lightweight version of Kokoro that doesn't need the 80+ additional dependencies of version 1.0 of Kokoro. It's located here:
https://huggingface.co/ctranslate2-4you/Kokoro-82M-light
I wanted to preemptively contact the repo maintainers and ask them to review. I don't want to infringe on your hard work and want to respect any licensing issues so please review and give me feedback.
The gist is...
- My repo relies on v0.19 AND reduces the number of dependencies by approximately 10 (compared to the original v0.19) and 80 (compared to the v1.0 of Kokoro).
- Has some minor improvements to text pre-processing, which will be improved in the future as well.
You are welcome to slim down the dependency graph where you see fit—that wasn't one of my priorities, as you can probably tell.
Re: license issues, this repo is Apache 2.0, I don't see any problems?
There are a number of other repositories that seek to make improvements or changes. Just to reiterate:
- The architecture of this model is StyleTTS2: https://github.com/yl4579/StyleTTS2
- The meaning of the word/name Kokoro is explained here: https://huggingface.co/hexgrad/Kokoro-82M#acknowledgements
